What Does the County Clerk Do?

  • Supervises fair, efficient elections, selects and trains election judges, tabulates results.
  • Works closely with the County Commissioners on budgets and other assigned matters.
  • Oversees auditors who check all County Department budgets and ensure tax dollars are wisely spent.
  • Issues passports and marriage licenses.
  • Records legal transactions and property transfers.
  • Archives important County records.
  • Works on indigent health care issues.
  • Administers jury selection and County court schedules.

What the County Clerk Does Not Do

  • Influence or control property taxes.
  • Bring economic development to Bannock County.
